The cabin of the 2021 Cadillac XT4 feels a step behind many rival interiors. The styling is a little boring, and there are some hard plastics that take away from the luxury feel. On the plus side, for such a small SUV, the interior is quite spacious.

The interior of the XT4 is comfortable and spacious, but it isn't as high-end as we would expect in this premium segment. The dashboard and upper door panels are wrapped in a stitched, faux-leather wrap, but cheaper, sharp-edged plastic remains on the doors and centre console. The buttons and switches appear to be shared with other less expensive offerings in the General Motors portfolio. The space in the front seat is excellent, and it's actually quite good in the back seat as well.
The cargo area of the XT4 is as large as the passenger compartment. We were able to fit six of our carry-on suitcases behind the XT4's rear seat, and with the seatbacks folded flat, we were able to fit 18—slightly more than smaller rivals like the Mini Cooper Countryman. If you're looking for a small SUV that can haul cargo like a larger one, the Volvo XC40, which can hold 23 carry-on suitcases, is a good option.
