The Cadillac XT4 is an excellent SUV. It gets good gas mileage and handles well. Inside, there are two rows of comfortable seats and plenty of cargo space behind the second row. There are numerous standard and optional features.
Unfortunately, the XT4's track record contains a few blemishes. The turbo-four engine feels strained at times, and ride quality and handling fall short of rivals' standards. This Cadillac also has more hard plastics than you'd expect to see in a luxury crossover.
2021 Cadillac XT4 Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
Despite its fuel-saving cylinder deactivation, the XT4 earns entirely average EPA fuel-economy estimates, with front-wheel-drive variants reaching 30 mpg on the highway. Our all-wheel-drive test vehicle only managed 27 of the EPA-rated 29 mpg in our real-world highway fuel-economy test.
The fuel economy of the front-wheel-drive XT4 is about average for the class, with ratings of 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. All-wheel-drive models have slightly lower city/highway ratings of 22/29 mpg.
If you want a sporty crossover with a comfortable ride, look elsewhere because the XT4 provides neither. Several competitors are more engaging than this Cadillac, which has sloppy steering and mediocre handling. Some critics say the XT4 rides smoothly, while others say the suspension doesn't do a good job of absorbing road imperfections.
