The 2019 XT4 Sport we tested reached 60 mph in 7.8 seconds, 1.5 seconds slower than the X1. Despite the differences, the XT4 felt quick around town and on the highway. Ignore Cadillac's claim that the XT4 is sporty. It's more of a roadster than a sports car.
So long as the road is relatively smooth, the ride is fine. Rough asphalt stretches transmit a lot of vibrations and sharp impacts into the cabin, especially if you're riding on the optional 20-inch wheels. The steering is also disappointing, as it is neither pleasant nor direct in its action. The only decisive controls on the XT4 are its brakes, which hauled our test car down from 70 mph in our emergency-braking test in 172 feet with one of the firmest brake pedals we've encountered.
