The 2022 Cadillac XT6 received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with five stars in the frontal and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover test.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not yet crash tested the 2022 XT6, but the nearly identical 2021 model received an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation, with perfect scores in all six crashworthiness tests.

The XT6 comes standard with a slew of driver-assist features (automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring), with more advanced features (adaptive cruise control, night vision) available as options. For 2022, Cadillac's mid-size SUV receives only minor updates. The Sport model now has Brembo brakes with red-painted callipers, and Platinum models have a steering wheel wrapped in Modena leather rather than last year's Turin leather. Power-folding exterior mirrors are now standard, and a new optional 21-inch wheel design is available.
