Surprisingly, the Ford Explorer's base infotainment system receives more praise than the upgraded system. This is largely due to the smaller on-screen buttons on the available 10.1-inch touch screen, and the vertical orientation means that smartphone integration systems aren't as large and easy to see as they would be with a horizontal layout. If you choose a model with a larger screen, you will also lose the smartphone-sized storage cubby that comes with the smaller screen.

An 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot, is standard. The system is appealing and responsive, but it is not as user-friendly as we would like. In this case, a rotatory controller would be useful. You'll need to upgrade to one of the Explorer's most expensive trims to get the optional 10.1-inch vertically oriented screen. Nonetheless, every model comes standard with voice-activated navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system. A 12-speaker B&O stereo system is standard on all Explorers except the base model.

An 8-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker sound system, satellite radio, two USB ports, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay are standard infotainment features.

A 10.1-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12- or 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, HD Radio, two second-row USB ports, and a rear-seat entertainment system are among the available infotainment features.

Additional standard features include: automatic climate control with three zones and push-button start
Other options include proximity keyless entry and a twin-panel moonroof.
