Prices for the Lyriq and other electric vehicles must be comparable to gasoline-powered models in order to replace the current lineup with EVs by 2030, according to GM North America President Steve Carlisle. The base model EV 2 Hummer SUV will cost $88,898 in Canada before shipping. The Hummer Edition 1 pickup starts at $125,898 before taxes and shipping. Lower-cost variants will follow.

GM has committed US$27 billion to the development of electric and autonomous vehicles, with the goal of having 30 EVs available globally by 2025. Cadillac is the lead brand for the EV transition, with the automaker aiming for an all-electric light-vehicle lineup by 2035.
